We are continually seeing unregistered builders/tradesmen engaging themselves in unlicensed building works. Before you go ahead with a builder, check if they are registered and check the registered builder data base.

It is required by law that any building project over $20,000 has to be done by a registered builder and not an unlicensed contractor calling themselves a builder. 

Unregistered builders are not covered by insurance to protect you and your home. These people will persuade you to take out an owner builder license’s and tell you this is the only way to save yourself money and do it cheaper than employing a registered builder.

This is most prevalent in the larger building works which entail hundreds of thousands of dollars where the risks are greatest,  often costing the owner builder more in shonky tradesmen  and being more than what it should cost in the end.

 David Brewer has a passion for cricket and he made the decision to support the White Knights Baldivis Cricket Club because he wanted to support a club that encouraged family participation as well as promoted and upheld positive and healthy values.

He found this in the club and fully supports “Leigh McIntosh” club president and the vision to be the most successful cricket club in the district. Part of this vision has come to pass as of season 2009/2010. In less than 3 years the club is now the largest cricket club in the Peel District.

David Brewer and Leigh McIntosh’s passion for cricket and vision for the club, inspired them to build first class training facilities for their training. With the help of local and federal government funding, this vision came to pass in 2010. Building four club standard nets at  the Baldivis Settlers Hills Cricket Oval of which David Brewer personally built through Edward Brewer Homes.

Entering for the first time in the category of Renovations/additions up to $200,000 EBH won against two other finalists and we were also finalists for the category of Special Purpose Housing Projects of the year.

On Saturday the 12th of March 2011, Edward Brewer Homes was awarded the Master Builders Association Bankwest Housing Excellence Awards for Contract Homes $180,000 to $230,000. In a highly contested category of many builders and 4 finalists 2 being well known Perth builders, we have done outstandingly well.

The homes entered in this category are designed and built on contract for that site and according to the clients requirements.

The judges criteria was a focus on quality of workmanship, in such areas as:

• Internal/external brickwork and/or render finish
• Internal and external carpentry finish and fixing
• Internal plastering finish
• Roof alignment and neatness of finish                                          
• Cupboard finishes
• Floor and wall tiling
• Ceiling fixing
• Internal and external painting (if part of contract)
• Integrity of structure
• Proficiency of supervision
